Nakai Organic Tea Garden is a family owned tea farm that has a history of 350 years of cultivating tea in Wazuka, Kyoto, Japan.
They have been preserving our tea fields respecting the nature over centuries.
Nakai is the first tea farm in Japan to be certified Organic JAS for tea fields and factory which fulfill the standard of both USDA and EU Organic. Their tea fields are free of pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizer.
We are so happy to collaborate and learn from them.
This Hojicha is sweet, balanced, and cozy, like a warm hug. Its smooth, nutty, and naturally sweet flavor instantly won us over. Once we tasted it, we knew we had to make it available in Canada.
Our favourite ratio is :
2g of Hojicha powder
30g of water (not too hot, 75-80°C)
200ml of milk (we love oatbox)
Hojicha is prepared the same way as a matcha latte.

How to use
1. Whisk the Powder
Sift 2 tsp of hojicha powder into a bowl. Add 60 ml of hot water (75°C) not too hot - and whisk until smooth and slightly frothy.
If you are feeling wild, our favourite ratio is 2,5g of Matcha or Hojicha for 28g of water for a more thick and creamy paste, intense flavor
2. Steam Your Milk
Heat 2/3 cup of your favorite milk until creamy with microfoam.
3. Pour & Enjoy
Slowly pour the steamed milk over the whisked hojicha. Sweeten to taste if you want!
