Nakai Tea Garden is a family-owned tea farm with over 350 years of tea-growing history in Wazuka, Kyoto, Japan.
For centuries, the Nakai family has cultivated tea with deep respect for nature, preserving their fields across generations.
They were the first tea farm in Japan to receive Organic JAS certification for both their tea fields and factory, meeting USDA and EU organic standards.
Their tea fields are free from pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers.
We are grateful to collaborate with them and continue learning from their expertise.
This hojicha is sweet, balanced, and cozy — like a warm hug.
Its smooth, nutty, and naturally sweet profile instantly won us over, and we knew we had to make it available in Canada.
Our favourite ratio is:
2 g of hojicha powder
30 g of water (75–80°C)

Hojicha is prepared the same way as a matcha latte.

How to use
1. Whisk the Powder
Sift 2 tsp of hojicha powder into a bowl. Add 60 ml of hot water (75°C) not too hot - and whisk until smooth and slightly frothy.
If you are feeling wild, our favourite ratio is 2,5g of Matcha or Hojicha for 28g of water for a more thick and creamy paste, intense flavor
2. Steam Your Milk
Heat 2/3 cup of your favorite milk until creamy with microfoam.
3. Pour & Enjoy
Slowly pour the steamed milk over the whisked hojicha. Sweeten to taste if you want!
